Braciole

Not tried this one before but am very keen to give it a whirl so let’s get straight to it.

Ingredients serves 2:

  • 2 12oz sirloin steaks
  • 1 ball of mozzarella
  • Handful of basil leaves
  • 1 jar sundried tomatoes
  • Handful grated Parmesan
  • 4 slice Parma ham
  • Homemade tomato sauce (refer to my last post)
  • Homemade or shop bought spaghetti to accompany (homemade all the way)

Start by cutting all the fat from your steaks then proceed to cut them in half so you have 2 thinner steaks, now cover with a layer of cling film and bat them out with a meat tenderiser or rolling pin until they are like pancakes. Once nice and thin you can add your fillings, start with the Parma ham as it will help hold everything inside. Next roll the filled steaks into sausage shapes and tie firmly with butchers twine.

  • Pan fry them until nicely browned while your tomato sauce is heating and a pan of water is brought to the boil for your spaghetti. When the steaks are browned well simmer them in the sauce for 10 minutes until cooked through. Cook your spaghetti then plate it up, put the steaks on top (2 per portion) and finish with the tomato sauce and some grated Parmesan. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
